David S. Cochran, Ph.D.

Dr. Cochran is a former Associate Professor of Mechanical
Engineering at MIT, where he established and directed the Production System
Design (PSD) Laboratory for nine years. Dr. Cochran is a two-time recipient
of the prestigious Shingo Prize (2002 and 1989) for manufacturing excellence.
He received the Dudley Prize for best paper from the International Journal of
Production Research in 2000 for his work to integrate system design theory.
Dr. Cochran received his Ph.D in Industrial and Manufacturing
Systems Engineering from Auburn University and M.S. in Manufacturing
Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Cochran founded System Design, LLC in 2002.
